Historic Expansion of Hunting and Fishing Opportunities on Public Lands

Hunting Season

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Interior, new hunting and fishing opportunities will be available across 2.3 million acres at 138 national wildlife refuges and nine national fish hatcheries.

A Historic Expansion

This marks the largest expansion of hunting and fishing opportunities by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in U.S. history and allows folks to access and enjoy huge tracks of land and game.

The Reason Behind It

According to NPR, there has been a steady decline in hunting and fishing throughout the years and thereby a steady decline in license sales, equipment rentals, etc., which supports critical conservation programs throughout the country.

A Great Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for both anglers and hunters. It also reflects how important hunters are to the overall conservation movement. Without their dollars, the game departments are unable to do their jobs due to lack of funding. It really is a great opportunity both to enjoy some special hunting and fishing and also support what we all know is essential game conservation.
